Plettenberg Bay and surrounds might just be the ideal wedding and honeymoon destination. Inspiration for a beach or beach inspired wedding is literally in the air.
Although, Plettenberg Bay is along the Garden Route of South Africa and not an island, we certainly do live an idyllic island lifestyle full of sunny days, fresh air and magnificent sunsets. I have taken inspiration from those and from many walks along the sandy stretches of Robberg and Keurbooms beaches. The setting could not be more perfect for a fresh beach wedding or at one of the ocean side wedding venues in the area.
A Shell Theme Wedding
Using romantic colours of peach, cream and dusty rose, this theme is girly without being too sweet. Subtle colours, scents and flavours create a classic wedding celebration.
Invitations and Wedding Favours: continue the popular shell theme inspired by the destination of Plettenberg Bay with shell inspired invitations and party favours. Or perhaps a message in a bottle invitation?
Venues: line the aisle with pale petals or shells and decorate tables in similar colours and materials.
Food & Drink: serve chilled white or pink sparkling wine. Plett has some marvellous local vineyards. For the menu, think fresh, light and flavoursome with local seafood such as fresh line fish, prawns or oysters.

An Island Theme Wedding
Bring a fun and lively personality to your Plett wedding with anIslandtheme. Imagine a romantic celebration with calypso music and tropical flowers. Ideal for an evening wedding.Invitations and Wedding Favours: take inspiration from the Caribbean or South Pacific for colours and materials. Invitations could be an “old” treasure map or cocktail-style menu
Venues: the colourful tropical flowers of bougainvillea and hibiscus are locally available and vibrant for use in all decorations. Tiki torches and lanterns can be used. A delicate flower behind the ears or woven into the hair of the bridal party will complete the look. Be slightly sparing with the vibrant colours of this theme, use them as accents in decoration rather than blocks of a bold colour.
Food & Drink: Cocktails would be an ideal welcome drink. Popular foods for this theme could include Thai curries, aCaribbean buffet and fruit salad. When planned correctly, this theme can be unique, fun to plan and ideal for a tropical butterfly bride!
